Anti-2A people remind me of myself before I had kids. See, I used to tell my wife how other people could get their kids to be better behaved when I’d see them acting out in restaurants.
The fact of the matter is, though, that I had no idea what I was talking about. I had nearly no experience with children, and I was spouting off out of my ignorance. Frankly, it’s embarrassing for me to even talk about it now. I was so obnoxious in my ignorance.
Anti-2A people do the same thing in reference to guns: they spout off about how to reduce gun violence without any real experience with guns (or, typically, with violence either). But they don’t have the self-awareness in this area to know that. Hopefully (for all of our sakes), that will change.
If you’re an anti-2A person (or if you’re pro-2A but don’t want to own guns of your own), it’s still really important for you to learn gun skills. And I’m not just pontificating here. That recommendation is based on real-world, practical reasons.
Caleb with Patriot Training Center explains why in the video below (note: the video is age restricted by YouTube).
Caleb references Jeff Cooper’s referencing the “combat triad:” combat mindset, gun handling, and marksmanship.
If you don’t have those three, then, guns are, at best, relatively useless to you and, at worse, dangerous to you and those around you.
Now, you can, of course, have the combat mindset, being willing to fight back, even without firearms skills, but gun handling and marksmanship are useless without a firearm in your hands, and if you find yourself in a situation like the guy in the video found himself in, having those gun skills could make the difference in stopping the threat that much quicker (and more safely to the innocents in the incident) once you get a gun in your hands… even if it is the other person’s firearm.
Gun skills: learn them, practice them, be able to use them at any time necessary.
🎯No matter what gun or gear you use, it won’t matter if you don’t have solid fundamentals. 🎯 The best way to get and retain those skills is with dryfire. That’s why we have a FREE 30 day dryfire program that only takes 10-minutes per day here for you: http://freedryfire.com/YT
