Anti-ICE Shooter Kills ICE Detainee

Today we have a story about people who are both stupid and have evil intent.

I wish that I were kidding about that, but it’s true.

Now, you may be asking how I can be so callous and mean towards another person.

In answer, let me let me ask you this: How would you describe the person who initiated violence for a perceived “righteous” cause but ends up completely flubbing it with a horrible and tragic ending… especially considering your supposedly “righteous” reason for trying to kill other people?

Would you say that the person who did such a thing was both stupid and had evil intent? It seems like a logical conclusion to me (hat tip to here for the lead). Luke McCoy writes,

Authorities say a man opened fire outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas early Wednesday morning, killing one detainee before taking his own life.

The Dallas Police Department confirmed that officers responded to the scene at approximately 6:40 a.m. after receiving an “assist the officer” call. When they arrived, they found four people had been shot. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, including the suspect, who has been identified by federal sources as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn.

According to ICE sources, the three individuals shot were detainees being transferred in a law enforcement van at the time of the attack. One detainee died from injuries while two others remain hospitalized.

At a press conference, FBI Special Agent in Charge Joseph Rothrock confirmed the agency is treating the incident as an act of targeted violence. “Early evidence that we have seen from the rounds found near the suspected shooter contained messages that are anti-ICE in nature,” Rothrock said.

Yes, I’d say that this person royally screwed up. Tragically, they felt that they needed to mess up in a way in which people died, including himself.

But we’re living in a world in which ignorant people feel more and more justified in taking violent action against other people instead of trying to find peaceful solutions to disagreements.

So, train to proficiency, continue to train to maintain proficiency, and carry every day.
