Unexpected Tip For Better Pistol Shooting

Whether you’re someone who carries a pistol for personal protection or someone who simply enjoys shooting pistols, such as in competitions, one of your primary focuses in training is always going to be accuracy.

After all, in self-protection, without accuracy, you aren’t stopping the threat (and you may end up hitting someone or something other than the intended target, which is terrible in-and-of-itself but also has all kinds of awful repercussions). And for target shooting, including competition, poor accuracy means you don’t win the prize.

So for both practical and enjoyment reasons, accuracy is one of the single most important aspects to train.

What makes it especially interesting (to me, at least) is that there are so many factors that, on the surface, seem to be unrelated to accuracy but that actually can make quite a bit of difference, and Caleb with Patriot Training Center is talking about a factor that too many people completely forget about when training and when out shooting, too.

You can watch his video below.

Now, I don’t know about you, but focusing on my pinky fingers and their grip on the gun isn’t something that I would have naturally thought about focusing on, but the logic is absolutely sound. Every finger on each hand plays an important part in you having a solid, stable grip on the pistol and, therefore, controlling the aim and recoil for accuracy.

Your pinkies are as vitally important to your handgun grip as your pinky toes are to walking steadily (and if you think that pinky toes aren’t important, just intentionally stub your pinky toe (on either foot) on the leg of a table and see how difficult it suddenly becomes to walk steadily or quickly. You almost can’t do it.).

So, if you want a solid grip on your pistol, take care of your fingers… and use them intentionally in your gun grip. Remember, the life that you save may be your own.
